Finding Hope
The guest of the farm program was established to help create special memories for individuals and their families going through a challenging time or experiencing hardship. They come to us for a multitude of reasons but ultimately, they all are in need of time with the animals healing on to give them a day to forget their problems for a brief time and we are passionate about helping them to achieve that.
We had one little girl visit Farmhouse Rescue with her family as she had brain cancer and only six months to live. She adored animals and her end-of-life wish was to spend some time up close with animals. Unfortunately, due to her oxygen tank she was unable to visit the zoo, so we stepped in to help fulfil her wish. The whole family had a wonderful day with us, we took pictures for them, provided lunch and some activities for them to participate in so that they had nothing to worry about except enjoying the precious time together and getting to know our wonderful animals. Precious, unforgettable memories were made that day and that is what we try to give all our visitors of the guest of the farm program.
Learning about people’s stories is often hard but we make sure that we create a special day for them. Our animals have been blessed with the ability to make people feel relaxed and calm and can help with depression and anxiety. We had a family of refugees visit recently, which was a magical day, after all they have been through it was beautiful to see the smiles on the children’s faces.
Most of the visitors are people we have learnt about locally, but we also invite hospitals, so they are aware that any of their patients with terminal illnesses are welcome to be a guest of Farmhouse Rescue. The joy that spending time with our animals can bring is immeasurable and we do our best to accommodate everyone’s wishes.
Eventually once we have more funds, we will have our guest house fixed up so that families who have to travel far to get to us can spend the night. This will open us up to a wider circle and enable us to help so many more people.
We didnt even realize we needed a day like we had. Every detail od the day was absolutely perfect,and my soul is restored after spending a day on your farm.
